Shannon Novak explores geometric abstractions to represent his interest in the links between sound, colour, and emotion. Novak’s inquiry began at an early age as a pianist, taking cues from both classical and modern schools of music, later composing and performing his own musical works. The years spent as a pianist mirrors the years spent as a visual artist, but only recently the two paths have crossed, resulting in his unique, geometrically balanced relationships between elements that offer a spiritual and harmonic affect on the viewer.

Novak was awarded a Master of Education degree with First Class Honours from Massey University in 2009. The sum of experiences gained through both his working and academic career has had significant impact on the direction and motivation behind his artistic career. Novak treats exhibitions as opportunities to provide individuals with ‘learning experiences’ optimised by works that use instantly recognisable shapes and colour, mathematically structured forms and space on the canvas.

An emerging artist, Novak’s works can be found in several private and corporate collections. To view his works or to discuss a commission, please call James Allan today
